Support Services
Overview
Hospice of Wichita Falls offers many support services to the families and communities we serve. Our support team consists of Social Workers, Chaplains, and Bereavement staff.
Social Workers provide support to alleviate emotional and social stress. They offer expertise in community resources for patients, caregivers, and community members. They will assist with advance directives, medical power of attorney, and other end-of-life planning. Social Workers also provide bereavement support up to a year for caregivers and families following the death of a patient.
Hospice of Wichita Falls Chaplains offer non-denominational spiritual support for patients and families. They are available to coordinate the spiritual care for patients who are unable to attend their place of worship. Chaplains also provide family and significant others with grief and bereavement counseling.
Hospice of Wichita Falls offers support groups to families, caregivers, and community members at no cost. These support groups are listed below:
Memorial Service provides families with an opportunity to remember their loved one as part of a candle lighting service. This event takes place on the third Monday at 7:00 PM every other month at Hospice of Wichita Falls in the Wilson volunteer wing.
Grief Support Group is designed for adults over the age of 25 who have a lost a loved one through death. This group meets the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at Hospice of Wichita Falls in the Wilson volunteer wing.
Journey of Hope is for students attending Midwestern State University ranging in age from 18-25 which meets at Midwestern State University. Call Hospice of Wichita Falls (940) 691-0982 for dates and times.
Wings of Hope is a support group for grieving parents and grandparents. This group meets the first Thursday of every month at 5:30 in the Wilson volunteer wing at Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Building Bridges is a support service for children and teens. This program is offered twice a year for those in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Each session is a one night a week meeting for a duration of six weeks. Building Bridges offers emotional support to grieving children, teens and their families who have experienced loss through death of someone significant in their lives.
Camp Grin Again is offered each summer to children ages from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. It is a day camp where children are encouraged to express their feelings and share their experience in a safe environment. In both of these programs, children will participate in activities to help them grow and develop life-long coping skills.
